City Councillors represent your interests on Birmingham City Council, in the decisions that they make and the policy they pursue. And hold the Executive to account for what they do and don’t do, in part by being members of Scrutiny committees. We can also serve on licensing and planning committees. Some of us sit on external bodies such as Centro and the Fire Authority.
Concern ourselves with your council related issues and problems.
Our advice bureaux on Saturdays at St.John’s Church, Walmley (from 10.30am to 12.30)
plus home visits when necessary, as well as attendances at local residents meetings. We are easily contacted (see each councillor for details), and deal with a large number of emails and phone calls (and the occasional letter) regarding ward issues. The vast majority are responded to in 24 hrs.
Other things we do:
Deal with road issues/surveys
Help as intermediaries in disputes between tenants and housing associations
Help local groups in fund raising - directing them to suitable funders.
Liaise with the police via regular tasking meetings.
We can help with:
Benefits administered by the local council
Council tax issues
Any issue regarding council services
We also have a close relationship with the Rt.Hon.Andrew Mitchell MP, so that issues relating to national government and nationally administered benefits can be passed on and swiftly dealt with.
Our town councillors, with whom we will be working closely, represent you on the new Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council.
